My trip to Digboi…

Dear Krisha,

On my official journey to Digboi, from 9th oct 2018 to 12th oct 2018, i had few beautiful experiences which i want to share with you. It was my first journey to north east India,a geographical term used to identify this part of India. Though not as beautiful as you, this place is charming and has a sense of calmness in its surroundings. People are nice, and helpful.

The exact place where i stayed was the official guest house of IOCL, called Hornbilll Villa, a very english name. Actually if you see, that very place is so english; the culture, the names, the infrstructure style everything has a tinge of britishness in it. The golf course. Tennis court, card room, pubs and then bamboo bunglows all reminds of british era. This very refinery was founded by the britishers and playes a pivotal role in second world war, fuelling the british fighter planes against japanese. There are buildings inside the refinery which are named: 1934 building, air raid shelter building. Inside the refinery is placed a large pan which was used first time for extraction of oil. The everlating legacy which britishers left here is the tea gardens which are economical backbone of the region.

I would certianly like to bring you here on family holiday. As i write this, I am in flight from Kolkata to ahmedabad. After landing at 21:30 at Ahmedabad, i will hire a cab for vadodara. See you soon. My dear daughter Krisha.

With love- Papa
